Nakhon Pathom

 "Nakhon Pathom" means "first city", and this city in the west of Bangkok is said to be the oldest city in Thailand.  It is also said to be the place where Buddhism was first introduced on the Indochina Peninsula and the first pagoda was built.

1. Wat Phra Pathom Chedi

 120.45m height, A first-class royal temple with the tallest pagoda in the world.  The first pagoda of about 40 meters was built by the Hmong around the 3rd century, then renovated by the Khmer people who ruled the land in the 11th century, and settled in its present form after renovation during the time of King Rama V.  A semi-circular dome with a high tower top. The whole is light orange.  A corridor with a total circumference of about 300 meters surrounds the Great Stupa. This corridor is used as a school for monks, and there are many Buddha statues of different shapes on the outside of the corridor.

Thai Southern Main Line.
Class 1 railway station.
The train bound for Nam Tok and Suphan Buri can be taken at this station.

2. Bus station (to Bangkok)

In my understanding, the bus schedules are as follows
Tour Bus No. 997      4:30 - 20:00
To BTS Bang Wa      5:00 - 19:00 
To Pinklao               5:00 - 19:30   etc.
