Suphan Buri

The city with abundant nature and historic, about 100 km far north from Bangkok. Located between Ayutthaya and Kanchanaburi, It is not famous as a tourist destination. It's not crowded, so it might be a good place to spend a relaxing time in Thailand. The existence of the terminal railway station is one of the attractions of this area for me.

Tourist spot

1. The statue of King Naresuan

The city was once the fiercest battlefield in the war with Burma. King Naresuan is known as one of the "Three Great Kings of Thailand" as a hero of salvation, and is also handed down as the founder of Muay Thai. Since it is customary to make a wish for this statue and dedicate a chicken statue when the wish comes true, many chicken objects are lined up in the surrounding area.

It is located at an intersection about 800m north of Suphan Buri Bus Terminal. There are no particular tourist attractions in the vicinity.

2. Suphan Buri Railway Station

This is the manned terminal station of the Suphan Buri branch line. This is one of a very inconvenient route as it only operates one round trip per day.

3. Malaiman Railway Stop

This is the real terminal end on Suphan Buri branch line. This is a completely unmanned railway stop point. The main road, "Malaiman Rd", runs right next to this place. It is more convenient to board and disembark the train here than using Suphan Buri station.
